Magnolia Pictures is set to release their drama LATE FAME on VOD and digital platforms early next month, arriving on October 6th, 2026. The film world premiered at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival before launching in US theaters on August 7th, 2026.
Late Fame is directed by Kent Jones, written by Samy Burch and is based on the posthumously published novella by Arthur Schnitzler. It stars Willem Dafoe, Greta Lee and Edmund Donovan.
In the film, forgotten New York poet Ed Saxberger (Willem Dafoe), is welcomed by an eager fan (Edmund Donovan) into a group of young admirers who anoint him a rediscovered genius. Intoxicated by the attention, and by the alluring presence of Gloria (Greta Lee), the group’s “tragic heroine,” Saxberger gradually reckons with the authenticity of his newfound poetic circle.
