According to our sources, Bleecker Street Films is expected to release their pro-shot version of HADESTOWN: THE MUSICAL on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on August 25th, 2026. The film world premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival before launching in US theaters on July 24th, 2026.

Hadestown: The Musical is directed by Brett Sullivan and features five principal cast members of the original Broadway production, including Reeve Carney, André De Shields, Amber Gray, Eva Noblezada, and Patrick Page. Recorded at the Lyric Theatre, London, the remainder of the cast are performers in the West End production.
In the film, the tragic love of Orpheus and Eurydice is intertwined with the complex relationship of Hades and Persephone. Eurydice, struggling with poverty, is lured to the industrial underworld of Hadestown by Hades, while Orpheus, a struggling musician, ventures down below to bring her back.
The film has been a huge success for Bleecker Street, earning over $20M at the US box-office.
