Sumerian Pictures is set to release their coming-of-age dramedy HORSEGIRLS on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on August 18th, 2026. The film world premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival before launching in US theaters on July 17th, 2026.
Horsegirls is written and directed by Lauren Meyering, with a story by Meyering and Mackenzie Breeden. It stars Gretchen Mol, Lillian Carrier, Jerod Haynes, Matthew Schwab, and Iqbal Theba.
In the film, as her mother battles an uncertain diagnosis, neurodivergent 22-year-old Margarita discovers a source of strength in an unexpected place: the sport of hobbyhorsing.
