Weekly Digital Top 10 Charts: TRON: ARES Ascends

In our weekly feature, we’re taking a look at the top 10 titles on the Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home transactional digital services. These charts are a snapshot and change daily, but we thought it would be interesting to give you a weekly analysis.

This week, TRON: ARES stormed the Top 10 on all three charts, hitting #1 on Fandango at Home. It’s a strong start for the theatrical under-achiever, though not as dominant as some of last month’s releases.

Aura Entertainment’s TRAP HOUSE clawed its way in to the Fandango at Home Top 10, reaching #7 in its first week. Also new this week, the inspirational drama SARAH’S OIL came in at #9 on Fandango. Angel Studio’s PVOD release TRUTH & TREASON managed a #41 start on Fandango, but did not chart on Apple or Prime Video.

Two Paramount specialty new releases from last week, TAPAWINGO and BAU: ARTIST AT WAR, failed to chart on any of the retail platforms.

Here are this week’s Top 10s (with last week’s chart positions in parentheses):

  1. (New) TRON: ARES – $29.99 Sale / $24.99 Rental
    • Disney’s very premium prices didn’t stop this sequel from hitting the top spot. Fandango heavily promoted the release, which surely helped drive sales and rentals.
  2. (New) HUNTING SEASON – $14.99 / $9.99
    • This Mel Gibson straight-to-streaming actioner hit big on Fandango, and did well on Apple where it sits at #12.
  3. (Not Ranked) FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S – $7.99 Sale / $3.99 Rental
    • The launch of the sequel drove consumers back to original, either to catch up or rewatch.
  4. (Not Ranked) DIE HARD 5- MOVIE COLLECTION BUNDLE – $19.99 Sale Only
  5. (1) ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER – $24.99 Sale / $19.99 Rental
    • Still at a premium price point, this is supposed to start discounting tomorrow. We’ll have the new price listed in our New Release Tuesday post.
  6. (Not Ranked) THE SANTA CLAUSE 1-3 BUNDLE – $7.99 Sale Only
  7. (New) TRAP HOUSE – $19.99 Sale / $14.99 Rental
    • Aura Entertainment’s first theatrical release pays off with a Top 10 Fandango start. It’s struggling on Apple, where it only mustered the #95 position.
  8. (5) REGRETTING YOU – $19.99 Sale / $14.99 Rental
    • This Colleen Hoover adaptation is still holding in the Top 10. We’re expecting a Paramount+ launch later this month.
  9. (New) SARAH’S OIL – $24.99 Sale / $19.99 Rental
    • Nice to see this Amazon MGM Studios release hit the Top 10 in its first week. It also did pretty well on Apple, sitting at #35.

  1. (Not Ranked) JOHN WICK 4-FILM COLLECTION – $34.99 Sale Only
  2. (New) TRON: ARES – $29.99 Sale / $24.99 Rental

  4. (Not Ranked) FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S – $7.99 Sale / $3.99 Rental

    • Universal dropped the price for this Blumhouse sequel, which got it back in the Top 10.
  10. (Not Ranked) RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER – $9.99 Sale Only
    • Rudolph hit the Top 10 on two charts, and sits at #20 on Fandango. Not bad for a 60 year-old film (retailers put it in the film charts, but we always considered it a television special).
