Venice 2026: First Reactions to Danny Boyle’s INK

The Venice Film Festival got underway today, and reactions to some of the highly-anticipated world premieres are starting to arrive.

INK is directed by Danny Boyle and adapted by James Graham from his 2017 stage play. A co-production of the United Kingdom and the United States, it stars Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, and Claire Foy.

The film had its world premiere as the opening film of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival today, where it will compete for the Golden Lion. It is scheduled to be released in select theaters in the United States on December 11th, 2026, before releasing on Netflix on January 8th, 2027 in the United States and Latin America.

Ink is an explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of misfits and visionaries who had an idea for a new kind of news – one that would give the people what they want, and would change the face of the world we live in today.
