Update: Richard Linklater’s BLUE MOON Digital Streaming Release Date Confirmed

According to our sources, Sony Pictures Classics is expected to release their period drama BLUE MOON on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on November 25th, 2025. The film world premiered in the main competition of the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance for Andrew Scott. It launched in US theaters on October 17th, 2025.

Blue Moon is directed by Richard Linklater and written by Robert Kaplow. It stars Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale and Andrew Scott.

In the film, on the evening of March 31, 1943, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart confronts his shattered self-confidence in Sardi’s bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his ground-breaking hit musical “Oklahoma!”.

Blue Moon is nominated for two Gotham Film Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Ethan Hawke, and Outstanding Supporting Performance for Andrew Scott.
