Paul Thomas Anderson’s ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is set to make its SVOD debut later this month, arriving on HBO Max on December 19th, 2025. The film launched in US theaters on September 26th, 2025, before hitting PVOD on November 14th.
In addition, the film will premiere on HBO’s linear television platform on Saturday, December 20th at 8p ET.
One Battle After Another is written, directed, and produced by Paul Thomas Anderson, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, and Benicio del Toro. The film is inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, marking Anderson’s second adaptation of Pynchon’s works after Inherent Vice in 2014.
In the film, washed-up revolutionary Bob exists in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off-grid with his spirited, self-reliant daughter, Willa. When his evil nemesis resurfaces after 16 years and she goes missing, the former radical scrambles to find her, father and daughter both battling the consequences of his past.
One Battle After Another recently won Best Film at the Gotham Film Awards, and has been nominated for 9 Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Actor (DiCaprio) – Musical or Comedy, Best Actress (Infiniti) – Musical or Comedy, Best Supporting Actor (Penn, del Toro), Best Supporting Actress (Taylor), Best Original Score (Johnny Greenwood), and Best Director and Best Screenplay (Anderson).
The film has also cleaned up with critics groups, picking up Best Feature honors with the New York Film Critics Circle, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the National Board of Review, and the Chicago Film Critics Association.
