As first reported by our friends at What’s On Netflix, the Sony Pictures Classics drama THE OUTRUN is set to make its SVOD debut next month, arriving on Netflix on March 18th, 2025. The film world premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival before launching in US theaters on October 4th, 2024. It hit PVOD on November 5th, 2024.

The Outrun is directed by Nora Fingscheidt from a screenplay she co-wrote with Amy Liptrot, and a story the two co-wrote with Daisy Lewis, based on the 2016 memoir of the same name by Liptrot. It stars Saoirse Ronan, who also serves as a producer, along with Paapa Essiedu, Nabil Elouahabi, Izuka Hoyle, Lauren Lyle, Saskia Reeves, and Stephen Dillane in supporting roles.

In the film, Rona, fresh out of rehab, returns to the Orkney Islands; a place both wild and beautiful right off the Scottish coast. After more than a decade of living life on the edge in London, where she both found and lost love, Rona – now 29 – attempts to come to terms with her troubled past. As she reconnects with the dramatic landscape where she grew up, memories of her traumatic childhood merge with more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.
