NEON is set to release their documentary thriller 2073 on VOD and digital platforms this week, arriving tomorrow, January 7th, 2025. The film world premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival before launching in US theaters on December 27th, 2024.

2073 is directed by Oscar-winner Asif Kapadia (Amy), and written by Kapadia and Tony Grisoni. It features Samantha Morton, Naomi Ackie, Hector Hewer, Maria Ressa, Carole Cadwalladr, Rana Ayyub Ben Rhodes, Rahima Mahmut, Silkie Carlo, Cori Crider, George Monbiot, Nina Schick, Chris Smalls, Douglass Rushkof, Carmody Grey, Tristan Harris, James O’Brien, Anne Applebaum, and Antony Lowenstein.

Inspired by Chris Marker's iconic 1962 featurette La Jetée; the year is 2073—a not-so-distant dystopian future—and the setting is New San Francisco, the scorched-earth tech-dominant police state where democracy and personal freedom have been well and truly obliterated.

We’ve added the release date to our streaming calendar. Pre-order from Amazon below, and check out the film’s official trailer.
