The Independent Film Company is set to release their historical comedy THE STUNT DRIVER on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on October 27th, 2026. The film world premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival before launching in US theaters on September 25th, 2026.
The Stunt Driver is written and directed by Michael Dowse, based on the life of Canadian daredevil stuntman Ken Carter. It stars Jay Baruchel, Ed Helms, Ben Foster, Laurence Leboeuf, and Dan Bakkedahl.
Based on the true story of Montrealer Ken Carter, the “Mad Canadian” stunt driver who tried to jump the Saint Lawrence River in a rocket car in the mid-’70s. Carter’s dream was to end his 30-year career with a big jump, a big paycheck, and mega stardom. In the process of accomplishing it, he hired a big sports manager and enlisted the best in rocket car design, with the National Film Board of Canada filming a documentary leading up to the event.
