Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for their historical drama THE WIZARD OF THE KREMLIN, which will launch in US theaters on May 15th, 2026. The film world premiered in the main competition of the 2025 Venice International Film Festival.
The Wizard of the Kremlin is directed by Olivier Assayas, who co-wrote the screenplay with Emmanuel Carrère. It is based on the 2022 novel of the same name by Giuliano da Empoli, and stars Paul Dano, Alicia Vikander, Tom Sturridge, Jeffrey Wright, and Jude Law.
In the film, in the chaos of post-Soviet Russia, rising KGB officer Vladimir Putin (Jude Law) joins forces with master manipulator Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano) to reshape life behind the Iron Curtain, using violence and deception to change the world forever. Putin and Baranov’s reign of chaos begins with lies and corruption, and quickly escalates to assassinations, tyranny, and eventually all-out war.
