When to Stream’s Weekly Tracking Report
Welcome to When To Stream’s Weekly Tracking Report. Every Friday, we’ll break down the film titles whose first window streaming premieres are still not confirmed. This column will not examine second window SVOD premieres, though we’ll obviously still be tracking and reporting those.
One note: There are hundreds of new films every year, and we’re not able to track or highlight every single one. For now, we concentrate on major studio and indie distributor releases. If there are titles you’d like us to track, let us know in the comments. We’ll do our best to follow up, but might not have the bandwidth to spotlight fully.
Here are the film titles (in order of theatrical release) we are currently tracking:
Theatrical Release Date: July 28, 2023
Tracking: GKids announced a 6/25 release date for the blu-ray, though no streaming date was mentioned. Still…progress! Our estimate is adjusted accordingly.

Theatrical Release Date: December 1, 2023
Tracking: Prime Video Japan announced an exclusive streaming premiere starting on 5/3. No indication where or when it will be available outside of Japan, but we’re crossing our fingers and adjusting our estimate accordingly.

PVOD Estimate: Early May 2024
Theatrical Release Date: December 1, 2023
Tracking: Still no word on streaming plans for this concert film. We were hoping the release of Cowboy Carter might trigger some sort of announcement, but nothing. The lack of pre-order doesn’t give us much confidence we’ll see this soon. Holding on our estimate for now.

Tracking: C’mon…please…we’re begging. Just give us a date. Even if it’s December. We just want something to look forward to. Prime Video put it up for pre-order, so that’s…something.

Tracking: Indie distributor Big World Pictures is handling this Franz Rogowski drama, and we don’t have much tracking info on their releases. It’s still rolling out in theaters across the country. Holding on our estimate for now.

Tracking: This Janus Films release will likely have the same theatrical exclusivity as their other titles, which means a 90-day window. Look for it on digital and the Criterion Channel around Memorial Day.

Tracking: Sony Pictures Classics has started to pull-back on their 90-day windows. We’re estimating this title will hit digital a little earlier than usual.

Tracking: Sony Pictures Classics continues to expand this Spirit Award nominee this weekend. We’re still anticipating at least a two-month theatrical window.

Tracking: Amazon MGM have not been shy about pulling the trigger on a digital release after 30 days (or earlier…The Boys in the Boat window was 3 weeks). We’re hoping this over-performs at the box-office and the studio lets it cook in theaters…but we’re not holding our breath.

Tracking: Roadside Attractions is handling distribution on this one, and they usually give their films at least three weeks in theaters before going to digital. That sounds about right for this title.

Tracking: We’re guessing Magnolia Pictures will take its time nurturing this one in theaters for a while. It could mirror the distributor’s 2023 title Blue Jean, which hit digital after 45 days.

Tracking: Lionsgate is hoping to duplicate the success of last year’s faith-based hit Jesus Revolution, which held in theaters for 45-days before hitting digital. The box-office on this one will likely dictate if it can hold out that long.
