When to Stream’s Weekly Tracking Report
Welcome to When To Stream’s Weekly Tracking Report. Every Friday, we’ll break down the film titles whose first window streaming premieres are still not confirmed. This column will not examine second window SVOD premieres, though we’ll obviously still be tracking and reporting those.
One note: There are hundreds of new films every year, and we’re not able to track or highlight every single one. For now, we concentrate on major studio and indie distributor releases. If there are titles you’d like us to track, let us know in the comments. We’ll do our best to follow up, but might not have the bandwidth to spotlight fully.

Theatrical Release Date: July 28, 2023
Tracking: Look…we’re kinda throwing our hands up in the air on this one. No indication of a streaming date. We have a feeling it’ll just pop-up on digital platforms one of these days.

PVOD Estimate: April 2024??
Theatrical Release Date: December 1, 2023
Tracking: Indiewire had an interesting article about Godzilla Minus One’s lack of home viewing availability, and it sounds as if the currently in theaters Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire could be the culprit. We’re hoping some sort of streaming announcement will come soon.
Pre-Order Availability: No
PVOD Estimate: Mid/Late April 2024?
Theatrical Release Date: December 1, 2023
Tracking: Still no word on streaming plans for this concert film. We were hoping the release of Cowboy Carter might trigger some sort of announcement, but nothing. The lack of pre-order doesn’t give us much confidence we’ll see this soon. Holding on our estimate for now.

Theatrical Release Date: December 8, 2023
Tracking: The online rumblings that it might hit digital this week didn’t come to pass. Still, we’re hopeful a streaming announcement will be made very soon.

VOD Estimate: Early April 2024
Theatrical Release Date: January 19, 2024
Tracking: Distributor Dark Sky Films is handling this one, and their films usually have a quick pivot to VOD/Digital. Still no announcement or pre-order, we’re holding on our estimate for now.

PVOD Estimate: Early April 2024
Theatrical Release Date: January 26, 2024
Tracking: This Mexican import was Spirit Award nominated, so hopes were high it would get a Best International Feature nomination (it did not). Distributor Janus Films will likely follow their usual playbook: slow, steady roll out with at least a 90-day window to PVOD/SVOD.

VOD/Digital/SVOD Estimate: Late April 2024 (Criterion Channel)
Theatrical Release Date: February 2, 2024
Tracking: Indie distributor Big World Pictures is handling this Franz Rogowski drama, and we don’t have much tracking info on their releases. It’s still rolling out in theaters across the country. Holding on our estimate for now.

VOD/Digital Estimate: Mid/Late April 2024
Theatrical Release Date: February 23, 2024
Tracking: This Janus Films release will likely have the same theatrical exclusivity as their other titles, which means a 90-day window. Look for it on digital and the Criterion Channel around Memorial Day.

VOD/SVOD Estimate: Late May 2024
Theatrical Release Date: February 23, 2024
Tracking: A digital release on 4/9 is expected.

Tracking: Sony Pictures Classics will most likely slowly roll-out this adult animated feature, but look for this one to hit digital at the end of April.

Tracking: Likely to be the biggest film of the Spring, we’re estimating Warner Bros will keep it in theaters exclusively for at least 45 days. It’s priced for PVOD, so a mid-April launch feels right.

Tracking: A24 is taking this semi-wide this weekend. We’re still estimating they will follow their usual ~60-day theatrical exclusivity for this title.

Tracking: Sony Pictures Classics has started to pull-back on their 90-day windows. We’re estimating this title will hit digital a little earlier than usual.

Tracking: This Angel Studios release should mirror its non-Sound of Freedom offerings: 30-day theatrical exclusivity, followed by an ‘Angel Investor’ SVOD release, followed by a digital launch 60-days later.

Tracking: Universal will likely keep this one in theaters exclusively for at least a month. Look for a PVOD launch in April, and a Peacock premiere in July (which the streaming service will heavily promote during the Paris Olympics). Should have news on this one soon.

Tracking: This A24 release has probably hit its peak, box-office wise. We’re estimating the distributor will hold-off on fast-tracking to PVOD, but there’s always a chance it might pop up unexpectedly.
