Welcome to When To Stream’s super-sized monthly preview! We’re here to give you an overview of the top streaming titles (including PVOD, Digital, and SVOD) expected in September 2024, and also give a glimpse at the films we expect to launch this month, but have not yet been announced.

TWILIGHT OF THE WARRIORS: WALLED IN (VOD/Digital)

  • Synopsis: Set in the 1980s, troubled youth Chan Lok-kwun accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers the order amidst its chaos, and learns important life lessons along the way. In the Walled City, he becomes close friends with Shin, Twelfth Master and AV. Under the leadership of Cyclone, they resist against the invasion of villain Mr. Big in a series of fierce battles. Together, they vow to protect the safe haven that is Kowloon Walled City.

  • Fun Fact: A life-sized replica of the Kowloon Walled City, said to be almost identical to the real one, was built for filming.

IMAGINARY (Starz)

  • Synopsis: When Jessica moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playful and become increasingly sinister. As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.

  • Fun Fact: National treasure Annette Bening had to sit through a Chauncey interview on the Kelly Clarkson Show. A dark moment in our nation’s history.

  • Synopsis: A former Marine confronts corruption in a small town when local law enforcement unjustly seizes the bag of cash he needs to post his cousin's bail.

  • Fun Fact: Star Aaron Pierre is the voice of Mufasa in Barry Jenkins’ upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King.

ARTHUR THE KING (Starz)

  • Synopsis: Over the course of ten days and 435 miles, an unbreakable bond is forged between pro adventure racer Michael Light and a scrappy street dog companion dubbed Arthur. As the team is pushed to their outer limits of endurance in the race, Arthur redefines what victory, loyalty and friendship truly mean.

  • Fun Fact: Ukai plays Arthur in the film. The furry animal is a mix of three breeds: an Australian Shepherd, a Border Collie, and a Bouvier des Flandres.

  • Fun Fact: Two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest plays Margaux ‘Minnie’ Castevet, the character Ruth Gordon played and won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the original Rosemary’s Baby.

  • Synopsis: After the brutal murder of her twin sister, Darcy goes after those responsible by using haunted items as her tools for revenge.

  • Fun Fact: One of the items in Darcy's room of haunted objects seen near the beginning of the film is the rabbit doll from Damian McCarthy's previous feature, Caveat.

  • Synopsis: Hyun-su and Soo-jin are newlyweds. WOLFS (Apple TV+)

  • Synopsis: A professional fixer is hired to cover up a high profile crime. But when a second fixer shows up and the two "lone wolves" are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected.
