Well Go USA has released the first US trailer and poster for Hirokazo Kore-eda’s newest film MONSTER, which will open in New York in limited release on November 22nd, 2023 before expanding to more cities in the subsequent weeks.

Monster won the Best Screenplay prize and the Queer Palm at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of Minato (Soya Kurokawa), a young boy who displays increasingly worrying behavior both at school and at home. His mother Saori (Sakura Ando) decides to discuss it with the teaching staff at his school, but it soon becomes apparent that his teacher, Hori (Eita Nagayama), is the source of all the problems. As the mystery unfolds, the truth turns out to be more complex than expected.
