THE SUBSTANCE Gets Digital Retail Streaming Release Date

Coralie Fargeat’s hit body-horror thriller THE SUBSTANCE is expected to make its digital retail debut later this week, arriving on October 31st, 2024, which is also the same day it will launch on the streaming service MUBI. The film world premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (where it won Fargeat a screenplay prize), and arrived in US theaters on September 20th, 2024.

It looks as it the film will be available for sale-only at a $19.99 price point, with a reduced-price rental date still to be determined.

The Substance is written, directed, and co-produced by Fargeat. It stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, Hugo Diego Garcia, Joseph Balderrama, Oscar Lesage, Gore Abrams, Matthew Géczy, Vincent Colombe, Philip Schurer, Tiffany Hofstetter, Alexandra Papoulias Barton, Olivier Raynal, Gregory Defleur, Tom Morton, and Dennis Quaid.

In the film, a fading celebrity decides to usea black market drug, a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself.
