Sony Pictures Classics THE PERSIAN VERSION is now available to stream on Netflix. Actually, it’s been available to stream since March 20th, 2024. Neither Netflix nor Sony Classics made any kind of announcement (as far as we know). The film world premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival before debuting in US theaters on October 20th, 2023.

The Persian Version was directed and written by Maryam Keshavarz. The film stars Layla Mohammadi, Niousha Noor, Bijan Daneshmand, Bella Warda, and Tom Byrne. It follows the struggles of a young Iranian-American woman who is often at odds with her family, particularly with her mother.

The film won two awards at Sundance in 2023, including the Audience Award for the U.S. Dramatic Competition. It was also named one of the top 10 independent films of 2023 by the National Board of Review.
