Anthony Hopkins is once again crashing the Oscar race. Sony Pictures Classics has announced it will launch their upcoming period drama FREUD’S LAST SESSION in limited theatrical release on December 22nd, 2023. The film will have its world premiere on October 27th at this year’s AFI Fest.

Freud’s Last Session is based on the stage play of the same name by Mark St. Germain, which itself is based upon the book The Question of God, written by Armand Nicholi. It tells of a meeting between C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud and the debate on God that follows, and discussions of the nature of their relationships with other people such as Freud’s daughter. Hopkins stars as Freud, while Matthew Goode portrays Lewis.
