Netflix has set a streaming release date for its upcoming drama THE PIANO LESSON, which will launch on their platform on November 22nd, 2024. The film is set to screen at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival and launch in US theaters in limited release on November 8th.
The Piano Lesson is directed by Malcolm Washington, who co-wrote the screenplay with Virgil Williams. It is an adaptation of the 1987 play of the same name by August Wilson. It stars John David Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Danielle Deadwyler, Ray Fisher, Michael Potts, Corey Hawkins, Melanie Jeffcoat, Erykah Badu, Skylar Smith, Gail Bean, and Jerrika Hinton.
In 1936, an ornately carved piano - the Charles family's prized possession - has been gathering dust in the parlor of Berniece Charles' Pittsburgh home. When Boy Willie, Berniece's exuberant brother, bursts into her life with his dream of buying the same Mississippi land that his family had worked as slaves, he plans to sell their antique piano for the cash he needs to stake his future. But Berniece refuses to sell, clinging to the piano as a reminder of the history that is their family legacy.
