Netflix Sets Streaming Premiere Date for Sony Pictures Classics’ WE GROWN NOW
Netflix has set a streaming premiere date for Sony Pictures Classics’ acclaimed coming-of-age drama WE GROWN NOW , which will launch on their platform on October 3rd, 2024. The film world premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival before debuting in US theaters in limited release on April 19th, 2024. It arrived on VOD and digital on June 18th.
We Grown Now was written and directed by Minhal Baig, and produced by Joe Pirro and Baig. It stars Blake Cameron James, Gian Knight Ramirez, S. Epatha Merkerson, Avery Holliday, Ora Jones, Lil Rel Howery and Jurnee Smollett.
The film was nominated for 3 Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Editing (Stephanie Filo), Best Cinematography (Pat Scola), and Best Feature.
In 1992 Chicago, as Michael Jordan solidifies himself as a champion, a story of two young legends in their own right begins. As wide-eyed and imaginative best friends Malik and Eric traverse the city, looking to escape the mundaneness of school and the hardships of growing up in public housing, their unbreakable bond is challenged when tragedy shakes their community just as they are learning to fly.
