MGM Pushes Back Theatrical Release Date of TIFF Audience Award Winner AMERICAN FICTION

MGM has pushed back the theatrical launch of its Toronto Film Festival audience award winner AMERICAN FICTION. Originally scheduled to open in limited release on November 3rd, the film will now debut in limited release on December 15th, 2023. It will expand on December 22nd, and presumably take advantage of the lucrative holiday season and go wider in the following weeks.

The film received positive reviews out of Toronto, with a current Metacritic score of 82. The audience award from TIFF is often seen as a harbinger of Oscar success, at least with nominations. Past winners include THE FABELMANS, BELFAST, JOJO RABBIT and GREEN BOOK.

We’ve added the release date to our in theaters calendar.
