MUBI has set a streaming release date for their documentary DAHOMEY, which will begin streaming on their platform on December 13th, 2024. The film world premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival before launching in US theaters in limited release on October 25th, 2024.

Dahomey is directed by Mati Diop, and is a dramatised account of 26 royal treasures from the Kingdom of Dahomey (in modern-day Republic of Benin), which were held in a museum in France. The film explores how the artifacts were returned from France to Benin, and the reactions of Beninese people.

Dahomey was selected as the Senegalese entry for Best International Feature Film at this year’s Academy Awards.

We’ve added the release date to our streaming calendar. Pre-order from Amazon below and check out the film’s official trailer.
