Magnolia Pictures is set to release their epic historical drama THE PROMISED LAND on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on February 23rd, 2024. The film world-premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival before opening in US theaters on February 2nd, 2024.

The Promised Land was directed by Nikolaj Arcel from a screenplay by Arcel & Anders Thomas Jensen. It stars Mads Mikkelsen, Amanda Collin and Simon Bennebjerg, with Kristine Kujath Thorp, Gustav Lindh, Jakob Lohmann, Morten Hee Andersen, Magnus Krepper and Felix Kramer in supporting roles. It is based on the book The Captain and Ann Barbara by Ida Jessen.

The film takes place in Denmark, 1755. Captain Ludvig Kahlen (Mikkelsen) sets out to conquer a Danish heath reputed to be uncultivable, with an impossible goal: to establish a colony in the name of the king, in exchange for a royal title. A single-minded ambition that the ruthless lord of the region will relentlessly seek to put down. Kahlen's fate hangs in the balance: will his endevours bring him wealth and honour, or cost him his life...?
