Clint Eastwood’s JUROR #2 Targets Holiday Max Streaming Premiere
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Clint Eastwood’s JUROR #2 will not expand in to any more theaters after its limited launch last Friday. Instead, the film will begin streaming on Max over the Christmas holidays. No specific premiere date has been announced.
The film opened in approximately 35 theaters on November 1st, and the studio did not report any theatrical grosses. Critics responded well to the film, as it currently sits at 91% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Warner Bros is reportedly prepared to make an awards push, which was one of the factors in giving the film a theatrical release.
According to the article, the move to stream the film on Max was made with Eastwood’s blessing.
Juror #2 is directed by Eastwood and written by Jonathan Abrams. It stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons and Paul Bettany.
In the film, while serving as a juror in a high profile murder trial, family man Justin Kemp finds himself struggling with a serious moral dilemma…one he could use to sway the jury verdict and potentially convict—or free—the accused killer.
We’ll post with any news of an official Max launch date. It doesn’t sound like a digital release is in the cards, but we’ll report if that changes.
