Bertrand Bonello’s THE BEAST Gets Criterion Channel Live-Stream and Streaming Release Date

As first reported by Indiewire, Bertrand Bonello’s THE BEAST is set to make its SVOD debut this month, premiering on the Criterion Channel as a live-stream event on July 28th, 2024, at 5 p.m. PT/ 8p.m. ET. Then, the film will begin streaming on their platform on August 1st, 2024. The film world premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival before launching in US theaters on April 5th, 2024. It launched on digital on June 18th.

The Beast is directed and written by Bertrand Bonello from a story he co-wrote with Guillaume Bréaud and Benjamin Charbit. It is loosely based on Henry James's 1903 novella The Beast in the Jungle. It stars Léa Seydoux and George MacKay, with Guslagie Malanda and Dasha Nekrasova in supporting roles.

The film’s story is as follows: In the near future where emotions have become a threat, Gabrielle (Seydoux) finally decides to purify her DNA in a machine that will immerse her in her past lives and rid her of any strong feelings. She then meets Louis (MacKay) and feels a powerful connection, as if she had known him forever.
