The Kelly Reichardt heist drama THE MASTERMIND is set to hit streaming next month, arriving for SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) on MUBI on December 12th, 2025. It will also be available for digital sale the same date. The film world premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival before launching in US theaters on October 17th, 2025.
The Mastermind is written and directed by Kelly Reichardt, and stars Josh O’Connor, Alana Haim, Hope Davis, John Magaro, Gaby Hoffmann, and Bill Camp.
In the film, in a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels.
The Mastermind is nominated for two Gotham Film Awards, including Best Director for Reichardt, and Outstanding Lead Performance for Josh O’Connor.
