The Vertical Entertainment biographical drama MODI has quietly made its SVOD debut, launching today, March 28th, 2026, on Prime Video. The film world premiered at the 2024 San Sebastian International Film Festival and launched in US theaters on November 7th, 2025. It hit VOD and digital platforms on December 12th, 2025.
Modì is directed by Johnny Depp from a screenplay by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski, which is based on the play Modigliani by Dennis McIntyre. It stars Riccardo Scamarcio, Stephen Graham, Sally Phillips, Antonia Desplat, and Al Pacino.
The film is a 72-hour whirlwind in the life of bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani, known as Modi to his friends, and follows a chaotic series of events through the streets of war torn Paris in 1916.
On the run from the police, his desire to end his career and leave the city is dismissed by fellow artists Maurice Utrillo, Chaim Soutine and Modi’s muse, Beatrice Hastings. Modi seeks advice from his art dealer and friend, Leopold Zborowski.
After a night of hallucinations, the chaos in Modi’s mind reaches a crescendo when faced with an American collector, Maurice Gangnat, who has the power to change his life.
