Animal Farm is directed by Andy Serkis and written by Nicholas Stoller, and is loosely based on the 1945 novella by George Orwell. In the film, a good-natured pig named Lucky (voiced by Gaten Matarazzo) tells a bedtime story explaining how the animals came to operate their own farm. After a successful rebellion against their cruel human master, the animals were excited to live together in freedom. They agreed to follow a few key rules, make decisions together, and share everything equally—but then pig Napoleon (Seth Rogen) convinced them that their lives could be better if they followed his leadership.
