Sundance Award Winner ATROPIA Gets MUBI Streaming Premiere Date

The Vertical Entertainment war satire ATROPIA is set to make its SVOD debut later this month, arriving on MUBI on April 17th, 2026. The film world premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize in the festival’s U.S. Dramatic Competition. It launched in US theaters on December 12th, 2025, and hit VOD and digital platforms on February 27th, 2026.

Atropia is written and directed by Hailey Gates in her feature length debut, and produced by Luca Guadagnino. It stars Alia Shawkat, Callum Turner, Zahra Alzubaidi, Tony Shawkat, Jane Levy, Tim Heidecker, Lola Kirke, and Chloë Sevigny.

Welcome to Atropia, a fake nation built by the U.S. military to train soldiers in simulated towns designed by Hollywood artists and brought to life by role players. When an aspiring actress (Alia Shawkat) falls for a soldier (Callum Turner) cast as an insurgent, real emotions disrupt the illusion. This audacious satire blurs the line between acting and warfare—asking who truly wins when war becomes performance.
