As usual, December is shaping up to be a big month for Oscar contenders. Jonathan Glazer’s THE ZONE OF INTEREST has been slotted for limited release on December 8th, 2023.

The film premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix (second place) behind Palme d’Or winner ANATOMY OF A FALL. Both films star German actress Sandra Hüller, who will certainly factor in to the awards conversation this year.

THE ZONE OF INTEREST is loosely based on the 2014 novel written by Martin Amis, who died the same day the film premiered at Cannes. The film follows the commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp, Rudolf Höss, and his wife Hedwig, as they strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp.
