Here’s the full list:
January 1
Little Odessa, directed by James Gray | First Films First
Synopsis: Long separated from his Russian family, hitman Joshua returns to Brighton Beach for a contract killing for the Russian Mafia. His abusive father, Arkady, banned him from returning after Joshua committed his first murder. He takes up residence in a hotel, and soon everyone knows he has returned. He goes home to visit his dying mother, Irina, and prepares for the assassination, getting drawn back into the criminal community he left behind.
The Protagonists, directed by Luca Guadagnino | First Films First
Synopsis: An Italian movie crew goes to London to make a documentary about a murder case that took place a few years before.
January 10
Pepe, directed by Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias | Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias: A Double Bill
Synopsis: A voice that claims to be from a hippopotamus. A voice that doesn’t understand the perception of time. Pepe, the first and last hippo killed in the Americas, tells his story with the overwhelming orality of these towns.
Cocote, directed by Nelson Carlo de los Santos Arias | Nelson Carlod de los Santos Arias: A Double Bill
Synopsis: A rapturous crime fable set in the Dominican Republic, Nelson Carlo De Los Santos Arias’ COCOTE follows Alberto, a kind-hearted gardener returning home to attend his father’s funeral. When he discovers that a powerful local figure is responsible for his father’s death, Alberto realizes that he’s been summoned by his family to avenge the murder. It’s an unthinkable act — especially for him, an Evangelical Christian. But as pressure mounts, he sees few ways out. Questions of faith, tradition and honor course through this electrifying film, which, seemingly at the speed of thought itself, jumps between film formats, colors, and aspect ratios, radically envisioning a community torn asunder by senseless violence.
January 17
Buddy, directed by Heddy Honigmann | Animals
Synopsis: Walking in the forest without being able to see, coming down the stairs or going shopping when one is paralysed, falling asleep with post-traumatic stress disorder: for the protagonists of Buddy, all of this is made possible by the presence of an assistance dog at their side. Edith, 86 years old and blind since adolescence, remembers all of the dogs she has had with her, and their portraits—even if she cannot see them—cover the walls of her house.
Close Your Eyes, directed by Víctor Erice | Latest & Greatest

Los Reyes, directed by Bettina Perut, Iván Osnovikoff | Animals

The Watchman, directed by Ali Cherri | Brief Encounters
Synopsis: Halil spends his nights in a watchtower waiting for an enemy that doesn’t arrive, until suddenly strange lights appear on the horizon. Ali Cherri creates a universe in which a suspended and void time opens the door to ghostly presences from a past made of war. Shot with an extreme and detailed precision of vision and sound, The Watchman is an urgent film that deconstructs the myth of duty, laying bare the absurdity of the omnipresent war rhetoric.
