Disney’s fall acquisition campaign is in full-force, as the company has announced their summer family film HAUNTED MANSION will launch on the Disney+ platform on October 4th, 2023. The film premiered in US theaters on July 28th, and it is unclear if the Disney+ launch will coincide with a PVOD release.

UPDATE: The film will also release day-and-date on all digital platforms (Apple, Amazon, Google, Vudu, etc.)

Haunted Mansion underperformed both stateside and worldwide, bringing in a total of just over $100M. Not great for a film that cost a reported $150M. Still, its value will certainly be tested with its October launch on Disney+. A July theatrical release was clearly tactical, allowing the film to drive the streaming platform’s Halloween programming. Last year’s Hocus Pocus 2 was huge, surely Disney hopes Haunted Mansion performs as well.
