Update 1/26: It looks like Paramount is pushing back its release of PRIMATE. A number of retail sites posted the 1/27 launch date this morning, but those posts have all been removed. Our sources indicate the new launch date will be February 10th, 2026.
We’ve amended our Streaming Calendar to reflect the new date. We’ll post if there’s any other change of schedule.
According to our sources, Paramount Pictures is expected to release their horror thriller PRIMATE on VOD and digital platforms later this month, arriving on January 27th, 2026. The film launched in US theaters on January 9th, 2026.
Please note: Paramount Pictures has neither announced nor confirmed the release date. As always, release dates are subject to change.
Primate is directed by Johannes Roberts and co-written by Roberts and Ernest Riera. It stars Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, Troy Kotsur, Victoria Wyant, Gia Hunter, Benjamin Cheng, Charlie Mann, and Tienne Simon.
In the film, home from college, Lucy reunites with family including pet chimp Ben. Ben contracts rabies during a pool party and turns aggressive. Lucy and friends barricade in pool, devising ways to survive the vicious chimp.
We’ve added the release date to our Streaming Calendar. Pre-order the film from Amazon below, and check out the official trailer.
