The hit documentary SECRET MALL APARTMENT is set to make its SVOD debut this week, arriving on Netflix on January 23rd, 2026. The film world premiered at the 2024 SXSW Festival and launched in US theaters on March 21st, 2025. It hit VOD and digital platforms on September 16th, 2025.
Secret Mall Apartment is directed by Jeremy Workman, and co-produced by Workman and Jesse Eisenberg. The film marks the second collaboration between Workman and Eisenberg, who previously produced Workman’s 2018 documentary The World Before Your Feet.
The film tells the true story of eight Rhode Islanders who built and lived in a secret apartment inside a local mall from 2003 to 2007. Far more than a prank, the secret apartment became a deeply meaningful place for all involved.
